IF YOU ARE A PASSIONATE TRAVELLER A VISIT TO GREECE IS A MUST DO!
Do I really need to tell you why you should visit Greece? Maybe not, but I tell you anyway and I couldn’t do any different as I have always been a Greece enthusiast! 😊
Greece is famous all over the world for its many beautiful islands scattered around the Mediterranean Sea. There are the Argo-Saronic Islands, the Cyclades, probably the most famous and also my favourites, the Aegean islands, the Dodecanese which include Rhodes, the Sporades to which belongs Skiathos and the Ionian islands with Kefalonia that is the largest one.
No island will be the same. They will surprise you every time. Each one has its own particular charm, scent and peculiarities.
A lot of choices as you can see!
But to wrap it up, which are the main reasons why you should be paying Greece a visit?
9 REASONS WHY YOU SHOULD VISIT GREECE
AMAZING SEA with crystalline waters. I haven’t seen a place in Greece where the water wasn’t nice. You will always see clear waters even within the harbours that usually are the wort place because of the boats.
NATURAL BEAUTY. Greece boasts a great variety of scenic landscapes and breathtaking views. From mountains and woods to sleepy vulcanoes, from Maldives alike sandy beaches to lush coastline.
HISTORY AND CULTURE. Drenched in ancient and fascinating history, Greece still preserves some of the most beautiful ruins of the ancient and powerful civilizations, the Hellenes. They were eventually be called Greeks by the Romans. I have recently found out that Greece has 18 UNESCO sites. I only managed to see two of them, the ruins at Olympia and the medieval city of Rhodes, which I loved by the way.
GREEK DELICIOUS FOOD I love Greek food! As a Greek person once said: “is less stylish than Italian food but it’s good”! Maybe he was right but it’s probably another reason I like it. It reflects people culture and the way they are. Simple, but nice and generous. They how to enjoy life. Last but least… eating out in Greece is super cheap! I remember spending 19 euros to eat 2 main courses plus beer and water in a taverna by the sea. Although there are some recurring, popular dishes such as moussaka and feta cheese, every place will offer them with a slightly variant. Every island will have its own traditional dish.
SPEECHLESS DREAMY BEACHES. Stunning and often unspoilt and secluded beaches. From pebble beaches to rocky beaches you won’t be disappointed. They are all beautiful and what I like the most is that they aren’t usually very crowded. Not as they are in Italy anyway! In particular, on the islands, you will see deserts beaches all for you. I have been to Spain, France and of course Italy but I can’t find the same peace I usually find on some of the beaches of the Greek islands.
FREE ACCESS TO THE BEACHES AND CHEAP SUNBEDS. I come from Italy where free beaches are almost absent! Every beach is occupied by bars and sunbeds and you obviously have to pay for them. In addition, prices are sometimes unreal! In Greece, you will find plenty of space and if you wish to rent an umbrella and sunbed you will usually spend between 5 and 8 euros.
THE WELCOMING GREEK PEOPLE. I love how Greek people are and the way they treat tourists. I like and respect their way of living. Their simplicity and humility despite the huge amount of international tourists they have every year. They are keen on their traditions, they like spending time together, eating and laughing. They always do their best to offer a good service. Very often they will leave little souvenirs or local products in your room. Almost every taverna and restaurant will offer a local liqueur or a pudding to share.
SOMETHING FOR EVERYONE. Whether you want to travel on a budget or look for luxury accommodation you will find the right thing for you. There are lots of places whit good value for money. In terms of activities, nobody will get bored. There are tons of beautiful beaches and coves to dive in and snorkelling, wines tours, thrilling boat tours, trekking trails and more.
GOOD WEATHER in a safe place!!!! You will find lovely and very hot weather in a country where is very safe to travel to. From May to September you trust the sun to be on your side especially on the southernmost islands. It might be a bit different for the Ionian islands and the inland territories as they are more subjected to unstable weather coming from Europe.
So what’s not to like there? Have I convinced you to visit Greece? I hope so and if you are ready to visit Greece have a look at my blog to find some inspiration.
